- This collection of short stories is in part an exploration of the ways in which contemporary narrators are affected by notions of miscommunication. Its stories are informed by interdisciplinary research pertaining to the ways neurological conditions such as synaesthesia, instances of witzelsucht, Stendhal Syndrome and glossolalia can be expressed through visual art, choreography and musical composition as well as creative writing. It was received as marking a significant use of innovative or experimental prose-writing by reviewers in, for example, The London Magazine and London Review of Books. Stories from Attrib. have been the basis of invitations to literary festivals, ensuring public outreach and engagement regarding contemporary fiction, short stories, queer writing and 'experimental' fiction and 'art writing'. The collection was awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction (2017) and the Republic of Consciousness Prize (2018). The publication of Attrib. led to invitations to speak at the Festival of the European Short Story (FESS) in Zagreb (2019) and to present a keynote lecture at the National Creative Writing Graduate Fair, hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University. Stories from Attrib. have been anthologised widely including in The Penguin Book of the Contemporary British Short Story, and appeared on various universities' reading lists including at the universities of Cambridge, Durham, UEA, Westminster and Nottingham. The collection featured on the Books of the Year lists for 2017 including those published by Verso, The British Council, The Telegraph, the Guardian, the New Statesman and the Australian Book Review.
