- This 286-page book offers an original interdisciplinary (historical, art-historical, architectural) reading of the re-construction of Rome as epitome of the ‘fascist capital’. The book is based on extensive archival research in Italy as well as innovative readings of published textual and visual sources. The book has been widely reviewed. European History Review summarised: ‘Kallis has given us such a superb account of the visions of gerarchi, urban planners and architects that any future work on Fascist Rome should examine the experience of the city by those ordinary Romans who had to live with those visions.’
