- This monograph (319 pages) required access to hard-to-reach primary sources in research extending over two years. The author interviewed active participants in County Lines activities, and police and other agencies in several localities. There were 73 qualitative interviews conducted, including 36 with those directly participating in County Lines. He conducted four youth focus groups (totalling 116 young people), one local councillors' forum (22) and two stakeholder groups. User and dealer interviews required prolonged and delicate negotiations to secure access. Activity had to meet strict ethical guidelines. Additional participant observation activities included multiple site visits and 20 hours of police "ride-alongs".
