- The pickup and delivery problem with time windows (PDPTW) is a very difficult optimisation problem in transport logistics. Computationally efficient algorithms to solve it are essential for real-world applications. The proposed hybrid algorithm produced new best-known solutions for many of the scientific benchmark instances, some of which remain unbeaten (https://www.sintef.no/projectweb/top/pdptw/li-lim-benchmark/documentation/). The algorithm was adopted by fleet management company Microlise and forms the basis of their new product offering ‘Planning and Optimisation’ (https://www.microlise.com/fleet-management/planning-optimisation/).
