- This joint paper w an international collaborative project provides a protocol for the measurement of space charge in full-size HVDC polymer cables during load cycle qualification tests. The protocol has been implemented by the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE Std 1732-2017). It allows the presence of space charge and its impact on the electric field in cable insulation, the major issue for HVDC polymeric cables design and operation, to be assessed under load conditions.
