- This book is the main output of an AHRC funded project from 2012-2014. It is the product of a sustained collaborative research effort that draws on literature well beyond legal sources, particularly from ecology, environmental economics, and philosophy, to reach pragmatic but research-informed conclusions about what should replace the 'command and control' approach to environmental regulation. The book explores a wide range of new, market-driven approaches to protect biodiversity including payment for ecosystem services, biodiversity offsetting, impact fees, and conservation covenants.
