- This single-authored 95,000 word monograph represents an extensive research project that spanned nine years of research. It notably includes painstaking work in the Nietzsche archives in Germany working on Nietzsche’s very last notebooks, still not available to the public, which involved mastery not solely of German but moreover nineteenth-century script. It offers a fundamental reinterpretation of our understanding of Nietzsche’s politics, re-situating them in the late nineteenth century, for which substantial historical research was undertaken. Versions of two of the chapters have been published in leading political thought journals, but not submitted to REF to offer this book instead.
