- Double-weighted statement
- I would like my monograph 'Making Prussians, Raising Germans: A Cultural History of Prussian State-Building after Civil War, 1866-1935' to be double-weighted because it entailed the collection and analysis of a large body of material. The bibliography alone is 64 pages long. The primary sources for this 90,000-word study were located in over 20 European/American archives and libraries, necessitating lengthy research sojourns abroad. My book also covers a relatively long stretch of modern history (1850s-1930s) and adopts a comparative approach, covering Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the United States, which further increased the time needed to research and write it.
