- This 310 page book makes a significant contribution to research into men’s movements, bringing together complex interdisciplinary literatures on gender; masculinities; movements. While focused on the UK, the research extends international scholarship, presenting a new typology for categorising men’s movements, and addressing broad conceptual and empirical debates over the construction of ‘masculinity-in-crisis’. The original analysis of multiple case studies of ‘feminist’, ‘postfeminist’, and ‘backlash’ men’s groups provides a more nuanced, complete understanding of the cumulative politics of men’s movements. In-depth examination of interviews with hard-to-access fathers’ rights activists enables important insights into multi-faceted narratives of masculinity, fatherhood, and gender politics.
