- Commissioned and hosted by Bedfordshire libraries and produced by Bedford Creative Arts, ‘Dump It on Parliament Revisited’ (2015) was a multi-layered, immersive artwork exploring counter-culture local history, created by Dash N’ Dem (Dash Macdonald and Demitrios Kargotis) and artist/musician Roshi Nasehi. This formed part of the two-year Library as Laboratory project by Central Bedfordshire Council through the Arts Council England libraries initiative. The aim of the project was to explore the role of the library as a custodian of local history and how alternative local histories can be activated by the library service for its local communities. _x000D_

Dash N’ Dem had discovered the story of the Dump It On Parliament post-punk compilation tape whilst researching Bedfordshire’s alternative local history. They wanted to understand the socio-economic and political climate at that time and contrast it with what people are angry about now. Revisiting the original compilation cassette sought to explore the process of rehearsing a community production that had the potential to create a shared learning experience and stimulate critical citizenship. Dump it on Parliament Revisited was then created as a collaborative project with local bands and musicians, youth theatre groups, poets, a well-being group and the people of Dunstable, Houghton Regis and Leighton Buzzard. _x000D_

Revisiting, recording and celebrating the raw creative energy of Bedfordshire 1980’s post-punk scene re-imagined for today. It was an ambitious multi-layered, multi-disciplinary project with deep engagement with a wide range of participants across multiple locations - Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Houghton Regis. The project comprised 19 events, with deep engagement with 58 participants over 5 months, 334 participants overall and for an audience of 1,034 people, before digital dissemination.
