- The paper presents a new approach to integrate IVHM solutions within a typical engineering design process and it is the first paper published by the IJPHM to show the integration of such capabilities from a design perspective. Although the proposed process is presented in the context of aerospace applications, the ideas discussed in the paper underpinned several funding applications submitted by the author’s group (Water Infrastructure - HNSP’18 x1, HNSP’20 x1, Oil&Gas OGTF’16 x1, OGTC’18 x1). The paper was also used by other groups (Hyundai Motor Company, Delft University of Technology, Cranfield University) to advance the research on PHM design.
