- Originality: Introduces a novel methodology for modularly incorporating session types into practical functional programming languages. First correspondence between semantics of a session-typed lambda calculus and classical linear logic. Significance: Spawned a research programme. Follow-up work published at top tier conferences (e.g. ICFP 2016, ICFP 2017, POPL 2019, POPL 2020). Two PhDs. Underlies implementation of session types in Links web programming language. Essential part of a £4M EPSRC Programme Grant (EP/K034413/1). Rigour: Formal proofs. ESOP is the leading European conference on the theory and practice of programming languages. Acceptance rate (2015): 29%.
