- Godunov-type solvers feature in the latest industry standard flood modelling software. This study uniquely demonstrates an approach to augment Godunov-type solvers to deliver the accuracy of yet unaffordable research-based models, while simultaneously boosting their efficiency. The paper provides a complete description of this new approach alongside a diagnostic analysis on its potential for real-world problems and access to relevant codes and data, allowing engineers to fully understand and reproduce it. It has led to collaboration with Berkeley scientists, who ported the approach into the hydrogeological tool ‘TINerator’ and validated it for a Catchment in Colorado, USA (doi.org/10.2166/hydro.2020.198).
