- This monograph (269 pages) was the culmination of an extended period of research and development, including the author’s role as co-founder of the Art of Record Production conference series from 2005 and the Journal of the Art of Record Production in 2007. The book employs work from the ecological approach to perception, embodied cognition and the social construction of technology to establish a theoretical approach involving ‘sonic cartoons’ and providing new insights into how recorded music is made and listened to. Examples from the author’s professional experience and funded research projects are used to reveal these ideas in action.
