- This collaborative volume, the final output of the AHRC-funded project Italian Cinema Audiences 1945-60, is described as 'a masterclass in exploring the historical culture of moviegoing in postwar Italy’. The volume draws upon the questionnaires and interviews conducted by the researchers, press and trade paper reviews, industry data, and other archival sources to construct a new and complex picture of the social importance of cinema in postwar Italy, and its significance in structuring affective relations. I was sole author of Chapter 8, on masculinity, and wrote half of the introduction, as well as contributing to both research and methodology throughout.
