- Double-weighted statement
- This is a research monograph of 204 pages that resulted from a sustained period of research over several years. It draws on a wide range of primary and secondary historical sources, archival material and original analyses to produce an in-depth exploration of the emergence of contemporary ways of understanding photography, and to expand a materialist history of photography that situates it within the larger development of media technologies. Through this alternative history it develops the argument that photography is not static and was never simply a technology for fixing a fleeting reality.
