- As an 80,000-word book, this is of extended scale and scope, yet it also represents sustained research through interdisciplinary intellectual efforts (inc. digital sociology, science & technology studies, media studies, law, social theory and moral philosophy). A key output of an AHRC Future Leaders Fellowship, it draws upon a large body of fieldwork material in the form of over 100 interviews with difficult-to-access elite stakeholders. Along with surveys and elite stakeholder workshops, these interviews and efforts directly led McStay to novel insights and a work that is shaping diverse academic fields, their understanding of datafied emotion, and generating significant impact.
