- This paper proposes a progression towards privacy protective action. A qualitative analysis identified factors that led people towards privacy protection, or prevented them from taking action. The contribution lies in recommendations on ameliorating these obstacles. It dismantles the myth that if people know that they should take protective actions, they will – several factors and supportive features need to be in place for people to take action to protect their privacy.
