- This paper provides a method for making sense of online self-disclosures of loneliness on social media, thus making a direct and timely contribution towards achieving better understanding of contemporary social and public health issue. It uses a mixed methods approach including the deployment of computational techniques for sentiment and emotion analysis. It is a cross-disciplinary study and speaks directly to the journal’s focus on the psychological impact of computer use on individuals, groups and society and accordingly is cited by researchers from a range of disciplines.
