- This is the first scholarly monograph on Metheny’s career and music, in the preparation of which both the historical narrative and analytical content were conceived entirely from scratch. Factual material was derived from 62 interviews (including both published examples and 10 specially undertaken for the project) and c. 200 secondary sources. The musical analysis at the heart of the project is illustrated with 90 notated music examples (of which the longest amounts to 10 pages of score), based on original aural transcriptions made by the author from 11 case-study albums.
