the film has been shown beginning at Christmas 2015 and through 2017, 18 & 19 at all the venues visited during the ‘busking tour’ which forms the backdrop to the narrative

it was also a centrepiece -along with Music With the Music Camera (see below) at SOME SEVENS CLASH (Leeds 7/7/2017) https://irisleeds.wixsite.com/some7clash - an exploration of the enduring power of the Punk/DiY approach aesthetic – and a key founding father Joe Strummer
MUSIC WITH THE MOVIE CAMERA (2017-19)

Man With The Movie Camera (Vertov, USSR, 1929) is one of the key works in the history of cinema. Its position as a documentary is pre-eminent. The film was ranked #8 in the most recent Sight and Sound Poll (2012).
There is a long tradition of supplying soundtracks - and controversies about such - beginning with Vertov’s own ‘instructions’ lost in 1929 but unearthed and reused in more recent times. There are at least 20 extant recording realised in the century (including by In The Nursery – who Roberts collaborated with in live performances – The Alloy Orchestra & Michael Nyman). The current project returns to the improvisational tradition of accompanying silent films & seeks to engage contemporary technology and performance.
The web site includes documentation of the events and feedback from performers/audiences (and recordings) of six performances of improvised collaborative soundtracks for showings of the film
The collaborative nature of the project chimes with Vertov’s own aspirations for the future of the medium - see for example Radio Pravda (1924) and the concept of the cine-scout (also evidenced in Roberts’ collaborative project : COMMUNICATING FAITH (2014-2019) https://irisleeds.wixsite.com/faith
