- The monograph was based on an extended research project from October 2007 to May 2011, and was written between September 2013 and June 2014. The project required in-depth ethnographic fieldwork. Fifteen months of fieldwork for the project resulted in an extensive amount of research material. There were fifty-four interviews with DJs, MCs, club owners, club promoters, as well as fans and clubgoers, that were recorded, transcribed and analysed. In addition, a great deal of visual material was collected, including flyers, photographs and video. The monograph offers a detailed and comprehensive exploration of London’s Asian diasporic music cultures.
