- This 290-page monograph represents a decade of extensive research into primary material housed at institutions in Britain, France and West Germany. It delivers novel insights into the cultural history of postwar Europe through detailed analyses of photography and Cold War popular culture focusing on multifaceted discourses of reconstruction and urban space. The main chapters (none of which have been published as articles) address diverse themes and genres of photography. The book represents the equivalent of at least four individual articles and also contributes to the development of new interdisciplinary methodologies for historical research into photography and the public sphere.
