- This book demonstrates a sustained research effort, examining proximity in live performance from the inside out, from the authors’ experience as international artists specializing in intimate and site-specific works over a period of 10 years. Curious’s artistic research, supported by numerous international funds and awards, culminated in immersive performances that were performed in festivals in 16 countries prior to publication. Documenting and analysing this research in a series of case studies focused on questions of proximity in contemporary immersive theatre, the book gathers a complex and considerable body of practice-based primary source materials to propose original and unique critical insights.
