- Double-weighted statement
- The ‘Handbook’ title was used to allow a volume that exceeded the norms of Routledge’s monographs. The book embodies two decades of engagement with Nono’s music, collaborators and cultural history; following first steps in 2000 and a British Academy award in 2004. It entailed the detailed study of Nono’s archive to produce a work that addresses his full output. Beyond the wide scope and scale of this volume, and the sustained years of work it reflects, it is the dual cultural/historical-musicological survey and an analytical/theoretical study that provides grounds for its double weighting status.
