- Bingham was co-editor of the volume, sharing all editing duties with Professor Martin Conboy. They jointly recruited authors to write the 33 chapters, and then divided the contributors in two equal groups, supporting the authors to work towards the editorial vision of the volume, reviewing and commenting on the submissions, and liaising with authors on final drafts and proofs. Bingham and Conboy worked together, with the two editorial assistants, on the illustrations, timeline and bibliography. Bingham was the sole author of the 12,000-word introduction, which is a standalone and research-based overview of the British and Irish press across the entire period, focusing on five milestone years. Bingham also wrote the preface.
