- This major edited collection emerged directly from and was principally based upon data gathered by the AHRC Seals in Medieval Wales project (AH/G010994/1). Archival research was undertaken in Bangor University Archives, the British Library, Cheshire Archives and Local Studies, Gwent Record Office, Gwynedd Archives (Caernarfon Record Office), Hereford Cathedral Archives, Herefordshire Record Office, the National Library of Wales, and Shropshire Archives.
The Introduction was co-authored by New and Schofield. New wrote the first and second sections (pp. 1-5) and Schofield wrote the third section (pp. 5-9).
Chapters 2 and 3 were written entirely by Schofield. Chapters 4 and 7 were written entirely by New.
The conclusion was co-authored by New and Schofield.
The main editing was undertaken by Schofield and New, with assistance from Johns.
The Appendix, providing standardized entries for all the seals recorded by the project, was edited principally by New with input from Schofield and assistance from McEwan.
Schofield and Johns compiled the Index.
Schofield also liaised with the publisher throughout and oversaw the production of the volume.
