- The Routledge Companion to Alternative and Community Media comprises 50 chapters (including one by the editor) and an editor’s introduction. The plan for the book was conceived by the editor, who arranged the material in six parts, each addressing a key theme in the study of alternative and community media. The six parts are:
I Concepts
II Culture and society
III Policies and economies
IV Doing alternative journalism
V Communities and identities
VI Cultures of technology
The editor commissioned the chapters to fit within the book’s structure. Whilst the chapters were ultimately the work of the individual authors, the editor worked very closely with all the authors to shape each chapter and to ensure that the chapters in each part complemented each other in style, content and perspective.
