- The substantial book (424 pages) offers an extended and systematic critical study of the interpretation of investment-related treaties based primarily on investment awards. The importance of interpretation in international law cannot be overstated: most treaty claims adjudicated before investment arbitral tribunals have raised complex issues of interpretation. Disputes over investment-related treaties are peculiar as they can place multinational companies in opposition to sovereign governments, making research into the area complex and multifaceted. The study investigates this issue in considerable depth, analysing a large body of intricately detailed material from a number of different directions.
