- This book-length edition includes facsimiles and transcriptions of the recently-discovered holograph notebook by Dylan Thomas, with extensive annotation and a substantial Introduction. It applies two decades of scholarly knowledge of Thomas and considerable new research, to texts whose thematic content is consistently challenging. Their relation to published versions is certainly ‘complex’, and the annotations fully elucidate this. As well as furnishing important new material by a major British poet, it throws new light on the development of Thomas’s poetry and on the role his notebooks played in the poet’s creative process. Deciphering the notebook’s handwriting was itself a challenge.
