- This paper includes analytical research work on gap analyses revealing mismatches between rail skills and training schemes that has not been done before. The paper is significant because it created new datasets from more that 15 countries in the EU and around the world and outlined a completely new picture about rail skills development. It is a new area of research recently recognised by the European Commission. This paper resulted in a successful Erasmus+ grant application, ASTONRail, for setting is a partnership in rail skills development. Budget: 450kEURO, partners: AU, KTH, DICEA, EURNEX, UNIZA, UMA, UNIZG and TH WILDAU.
