- This paper contributed with novel understanding of how partial discharge pulses couple between sheath and conductor of high voltage cables, allowing for the first time, localisation of PD source in cross-bounded high voltage cables. It has been highly cited (32 citations to Nov 2020). It contained joint work between Wuhan University, China and GCU. Results were applied to monitoring of a number of Chinese power companies via Wuhan University, leading to further innovations/ publications, and contributed to a follow-on PhD studentship (£115k, 2016-2019) from EDF Energy to GCU. Applied to EDF Energy power cables during the period.
