- This work introduced for the first time an extension to the specification of RPL (IPv6 Routing Protocol for LLNs) protocol for wireless sensors and Internet of Things networks to support load balancing and improve its fault tolerance. The proposed extension is backed and supported by the Routing Over Low Power and Lossy Networks (ROLL) working group (WG) of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) international standardisation body. Two drafts were adopted by this work group. The work generated new collaboration with Huawei Technologies that contributed to co-author the drafts and endorse them during IETF meetings.
