- This interdisciplinary (literature and history) and multilingual volume is 597 pages and contains 27 chapters ranging across 1000 years of history-writing in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Tyler was one of three co-editors who conceived the volume, proposed it to the press, commissioned and edited the chapters, created the thematic structure, and wrote the introduction. The three editors oversaw the copyediting and indexing. Tyler had particular responsibility for the early and high medieval (co-editors are late medieval specialists) and British, Welsh, Irish and Scottish material and contributed a chapter of 20 pages on the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle.
