- Daw and his group developed hardware and software components of advanced LIGO detectors used in the detection of this event: 1) Slave laser system at LIGO Hanford used to measure the geometry of the short Michelson interferometer; 2) IWAVE wave tracking system implemented on the front end processors for characterising violin mode harmonics and parametric instabilities in optical body modes. Daw and Edo are on the LIGO instrument builders list following this work, enabling with the larger team of instrument builders the successful operation of the LIGO instruments towards this first 3-detector observation of gravitational waves.
