- In this paper a technique is presented for flood risk assessment applicable to a range of populated coastal environments. The work stems from the FP7 THESEUS project which won the EU Horizon Impact Award (as the SMART-COASTS proposal) for its multidisciplinary research on innovation in flood risk. This work is important because it directly addresses the need for a consistent and multiscale approach to flood risk assessment on the face of climate change around Europe. The Plymouth team helped to develop the overall approach and provided their analysis of one of the four study sites chosen for this work.
