- The research process for this monograph involved the tabulation of multiple forms of data extracted from 1,990 Board of Trade files held at the National Archives. Extensive primary sources included: 19 years of (undigitized) film industry trade papers (weekly issues); 22 large box files of memos and correspondence held at the Edison National Historical Park Archives in East Orange, New Jersey; 9 large box files held at the AMPAS, Los Angeles; 26 bound volumes of annual company reports from the London Stock Exchange Archives and 69 bound volumes of committee minutes, papers and correspondence held by the London Metropolitan Archives.
