- This work extends our earlier model clarifying why the number of implanted chondrocytes does not affect clinical outcome of our cell therapy patients (Lutijanov et al., J Theor Biol). Funding support came via Keele University and Versus Arthritis (VA) Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Therapies Centre (21156) and included support for the successfully defended PhD of Dr Kelly Campbell (now Research Health Economist at RTI Health Solutions). This knowledge had practical implication for our follow-on MRC and VA funded clinical trial of cell therapy, ASCOT (MR/L010453/10; 18480).
