- OFDM index modulation (OFDM-IM) is a promising technique for 5G wireless standardisation. This work improves the transmit diversity problem of OFDM-IM systems, presenting a new method of spreading index-and-data symbols in the frequency domain along with theoretical analysis and quantitative valuation. This results in much higher transmit diversity at less decoding complexity than any other classical OFDM-IM and OFDM methods. The work is an important basis in reliable transmissions of machine type devices in emerging 5G-IoT industries.
