- This work addresses the issue of ephemerality in ‘novel’ interfaces that debut as part of a single performance but are otherwise not developed or widely used. Instead, an already ubiquitous interface, the computer keyboard, is augmented to support richer musical expression (velocity-sensitivity). The potential of this ultra-low-cost extension is confirmed through a mixed method user study, establishing both a significant increase in expressivity plus benefits from unifying input and editing interaction in a single device.
