- This novel method for multi-material 3D printing of metamaterials, with spatially variable electromagnetic properties, stimulated new interdisciplinary research on the periphery of Physics, Engineering and Materials, prompting many publications by the same authors (several new devices have been demonstrated) and many others working in the field of additive manufacturing of microwave metamaterials. An EPSRC project (EP/P005578/1, £1m), on a new modelling approach for novel devices for controlling the propagation of the electromagnetic wave, followed. An invited talk at the IET seminar “Novel materials for RF applications” sparked interest among industry (BAE Systems, QinetiQ) and academia (Loughborough University, Dublin City University).
