- This National Institute of Healthcare Research (NIHR) monograph is the comprehensive report of IQuaD, the first NIHR funded (£2.4M) multi-centre trial conducted across Scotland and NE England, challenging routine dental care for adults. Requiring ambition, complex methods and processes, and a multidisciplinary research team, IQuaD evaluated the clinical- and cost-effectiveness of NHS scale and polishes. The author contributed significantly to the design and delivery of IQuaD, he was the Scotland clinical lead, supported recruitment of 63 practices, collection of clinical outcomes on 1877 adult patients over 3years follow-up, interpretation of data and made a major contribution to drafting the monograph.
