- The paper extends a Google-created method for automatically authenticating public keys for web sites, in order to automatically handle key revocations too. It demonstrates scaling up to 1Bn users (e.g., for email or messaging systems). This is significant because it solves the 20 year old problem of how a user can securely use another user's public key. The paper contains technical definitions and proofs of correctness. Published in NDSS, a top-ranked conference, it has led to dozens of follow-on papers from influential and highly cited groups internationally, and also led to a spin-off company which received 100K in private funding.
