- This research provides a route to the activation and utilisation of methane to produce high value chemical feedstocks, which remains a major scientific challenge. It resulted from an international collaboration with the University of Lille supported by a Royal Society International Exchange grant (Royal Society ref. IE160562). The research was carried out during Zholobenko’s visit Lille, where he was an Invited Visiting Professor in 2019, being an expert in the application of spectroscopic techniques under reaction conditions; the work was also funded by the CNRS and further EU funding (ANR-20-SODR-0002-02) has been secured to continue this work.
