- In its original focus on and analysis of inclusive, community-led radio content and production practices across five diverse areas in North America, this book combines complex critical perspectives on community-building alongside an exploration of grassroots self-representation of marginalised groups. Empirically, the book explores a series of under-represented groups including Haitian communities, HIV-positive groups, LGBTQ communities, music communities and Indigenous peoples. Drawing from ethnographic approaches, requiring in-depth investigation, it analyses volunteer practice, cultural labour, diverse articulations of marginalisation and the capacities of policy in this multi-sited and multidisciplinary study. The book is equivalent to four journal articles.
