- This paper is central to the success of concepts developed during the European Research Council grant "Optimisation of Multiscale Structures with Applications to Morphing Aircraft" (247045, € 2,481,462). The ideas introduced in this paper form the main Swansea contribution to the H2020 project SABRE (723491, € 6,033,398), which investigates morphing blades for rotary wing aircraft which started in June 2017.
