- Contributing to a portfolio of collaborative work with SWJT University in China, this paper introduces numerical models to explore vibration and temperature effects, using a novel and detailed analysis of railway wheel bearings in high speed trains. By combining field test data with mathematical modelling, the work has led to improved understanding of the bearing's operational environment and drawn conclusions that have practical applications in the running of high speed trains. The paper's outputs support efforts to reduce the risk of safety critical failures, whilst also helping to reduce maintenance costs.
