- This volume constitutes the first book-length treatment of discourses on happiness in China and offers a new conceptual model for further application in Chinese studies and beyond in its interrogation of happiness through different disciplinary lenses. Wielander created this conceptual approach and also authored the Introduction (11,226 words) setting out the research question and theoretical frameworks, and situating the study within the relevant international research context. She was sole author of chapter 1 (8595 words). The authorial voice is strong throughout the book showing clear evidence of editorial vision and close guidance of authors to produce a focused volume.
