- I developed lepton selections and their efficiency determinations at the CDF experiment for these high-transverse-momentum measurements, and data-driven methods of measuring the associated backgrounds. As Head of Offline I was responsible for (re)processing the entire dataset used for this legacy measurement. This is the first observation of s-channel single top-quark production, which is an electroweak process. It is much rarer than the pair production of top quarks through the strong interaction, and is particularly sensitive to classes of new physics. Its observation was therefore a landmark in top-quark physics.
