- Intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography are two types of images used in the assessment of arterial conditions and in the detection of vascular lumen lesions. This paper is significant because it presents a new approach that integrates these two types of images which were hitherto only dealt with separately. An empirical evaluation reveals significant benefits of the approach in enhancing both the precision and the computational stability, enabling a deeper understanding of atherosclerosis. The research formed the basis of a continuing collaboration and the successful award of a National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) grant (award no 62002304).
